does a reinsurer do?
In its simplest terms, reinsurers insure insurance companies to
help them spread their overall risk. Reinsurance means that a portion
of the financial risk originally assumed by an insurance company,
is assumed by a reinsurer. The so-called primary insurers, insurance
companies, assume risk from private or corporate clients and transfer
part of that risk to reinsurers. They do this because the risks
are too large or too volatile for a single insurance company to
